Sustainability

Even before the launch of Dr. Brite, our founders have been conscious of how our products and practices impact the environment. Learn about our company’s eco-friendly initiatives, sustainable packaging and our zero-waste goals for the future.

Is Dr. Brite toothpaste biodegradable?

Yes! Besides water, we only use plant-based ingredients and earth-derived minerals in our toothpaste; so it will degrade naturally. Read environmentally friendly toothpaste ingredient labels here.

Environmentally-Friendly Packaging

To ensure the safety of our consumers, their families and our planet, Dr. Brite packaging is recyclable, BPA-free and made without toxic chemicals. You may notice that our toothpaste and mouthwash do not come in boxes. That’s because we made the mindful decision to cut down on our packaging. Recycling and Reducing Waste

Dr. Brite is making every effort to becoming a zero-waste company by 2019. Here are some of the ways we try to enhance our impact on the environment, and what we plan to do in the future.

We make our final products by hand in small batches to keep them fresh and at the peak of efficacy. We also only buy environmentally-friendly ingredients in quantities as needed, which helps reduce ingredient expirations and ultimate waste.

The Dr. Brite headquarters has a designated recycling space that separates different materials, which are taken to a local recycling plant every weekend or two.

Our efforts to conserve water include using grey water in all the restrooms and drinking filtered tap at work (and at home!) instead of bottled water. To conserve energy, the office restrooms have motion-sensored lighting and the warehouse features large skylights that provide natural light.

We are currently looking into better, more sustainable packaging solutions like utilizing PCR plastics and card stock. We are also exploring alternatives for package and promotional printing inks that have no, or low, volatile organic compounds (VOC). These can be toxic to humans and harmful to the environment.

And instead of buying bottles of purified water, we will soon be installing a water filtration system in the warehouse to support our growing manufacturing demands. Yay!

Responsible Sourcing

Dr. Brite works with local and international suppliers to promote responsible and sensible sourcing. We select our all-natural ingredients from suppliers and manufacturing companies that pay Fair Trade prices or higher, actively participate in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and source only wildcrafted, certified organic ingredients. This ensures quality products created using the most eco-friendly processes available.

Awards and Recognition

We strive to minimize our carbon footprint, and sometimes we get noticed. In April 2016, Dr. Brite was a finalist for the SBC (Sustainable Business Council) awards in Los Angeles. We were acknowledged for our intentional sourcing and formulation, as well as our environmentally-friendly packaging methods.

In August 2016, Dr. Brite was chosen as a Jury Award category winner, by top influencers in the eco-friendly industry. The Eco-Excellence Awards, presented by NCW Magazine, recognized the best in socially and environmentally sustainable products, services, companies and websites.
