What is Women-Owned?

Around the world, women-owned businesses supply a wide variety of products sold in retail stores everywhere. The Women Owned initiative allows consumers to identify those items made by women-owned companies while shopping.

This Women-Owned initiative is managed by Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and WEConnect International. The two non-profits are dedicated to advancing the success of Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs) in the United States and across the globe.

The Women-Owned Certification

Through certification, the WBENC and WEConnect International validate that a business is 51% owned, controlled, operated and managed by a woman or women. Certified WBEs have access to supplier diversity and procurement executives at hundreds of multinational corporations.

Women-Owned certified companies also have access to mentoring, education and capacity development, and the opportunity to network and connect with other women-owned businesses.

The Women-Owned Logo

The Women-Owned logo was designed to help customers recognize products that are made by women-owned businesses. The goal of the logo is to make consumers aware of the quality items created by women-owned companies and to help these women grow their businesses. Just look at our Dr. Brite labels and you’ll see it.

Who is eligible for the logo?

Any WBENC-Certified or WEConnect International Certified business in good standing may utilize this logo under trademark. This means any business using the logo is at least 51% owned and operated by a woman. Read about the fabulous Dr. Brite founders below!

Why Buy from Women-Owned Businesses?
