Tea Tree Oil for Oral Health

Widely known for its healing properties, tea tree oil was first discovered by the indigenous people of eastern Australia hundreds of years ago. It’s antibacterial and antiviral benefits were used to cure skin problems, but more recently this medicinal oil has shown to improve oral health conditions.

Tea Tree Oil for Tooth Pain

Tea tree oil, derived from the leaves of the Melaleuca tree, has been known to help slow tooth decay, prevent gum inflammation and freshen breath by killing odor-causing bacteria. It's also a powerful antiseptic, which makes it great for treating gum pain and toothaches.

Tooth Pain Causes

Natural Remedies for Toothache

  1. Directly apply 2-3 drops of tea tree oil onto the gums surrounding the infected tooth twice each day until pain subsides.
  2. Add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil to a glass of water. Swish around your mouth for a minute or two and expel.
  3. Spritz the affected area with an organic tea tree oil mouth spray made with other natural ingredients like aloe vera juice.

If the pain persists or worsens we recommend visiting your dentist as soon as possible.

Tea Tree Oil Toothbrush Tip

Keep your toothbrush clean and fresh by dabbing on a bit of tea tree oil between uses -- this helps keep germs and bacteria away. Even though this may extend the life of your toothbrush, make sure to replace it every three months.
