We’ve Got Answers About Natural Oral Care

We would like to give a big thanks to anyone who has reached out and asked us a question about Dr. Brite. We are truly honored to have the chance to talk with so many people while spreading the word that natural products can also be effective.

But maybe you haven’t asked a question? Or maybe you’ve searched for a question, but couldn’t find an answer? Well, our team at Dr. Brite is here for you and you can ask us anything.

Seriously, go ahead and ask away. Each product on our website has a handy Q&A section where you can find additional information about our products whether it's about the purpose of certain ingredients or tips and tricks. Just head on over to DrBrite.com and unleash your curiosity.

Now, before you head on over to experience the Q&A features on DrBrite.com, we would like to answer a few common questions that we receive:

What is Kaolin Clay and What Does It Do?

The kaolin clay in Dr. Brite’s all-natural, EWG verified, toothpastes is food grade, made in the USA, and consists of over 95% pure Kaolinite (the main component of kaolin clay) with minimal calcium, silica, and trace amounts of quartz. Kaolin clay gently polishes teeth and remineralizes tooth enamel, which helps prevent cavities from forming. Now there is some controversy about how kaolin clay can be contaminated with lead, but you can be rest assured that the kaolin clay in Dr. Brite products does not have this heavy metal contamination. In fact, the amount of kaolin clay used in our toothpastes makes up only about 1% of the entire formula.

What’s the Big Deal About Fluoride?

While found in mainstream, conventional toothpastes and widely used in dentist offices, fluoride can pose more risks than benefits when used twice daily in the long run. To learn the real truth, you can check out one of our recent blog posts all about fluoride.

How Do I Get My Kids to Brush Their Teeth With Natural Toothpaste?

We know that kids can, at times, be very picky and sometimes they’re not fans of change. If your child is having trouble switching to a natural toothpaste, check out the two-third, one-third trick from Pooneh Ramezani, DDS. If your child has trouble getting used to a brushing routine, you can read on how to make it a fun family-bonding time of the day or night.

Your Toothpaste Doesn’t Foam Up Like a “Normal” Toothpaste. Does That Mean Something is Wrong?

Nope! Nothing is wrong. That foaming action that you’re familiar with is because Sodium Lauryl Sulfates (SLS) is added to a product. At Dr. Brite, we’ve decided to leave this ingredient completely out of our formulations. Just as drying on hair and skin, the drying effects of SLS are amplified even more in the mouth. SLS can actually lead mouth sores, gum irritation, and it can even cause ulcers in the gums to form. We believe that a super foamy toothpaste is just not worth as SLS can potentially irritate our mouths over time.

How Do I Know If My Toothpaste is Vegan?

A vegan product is one that does not contain any animal ingredients or animal by-products. Now, this is the perfect time to become an ingredient inspector. So, give your toothpaste a look and watch for the ingredient glycerin/glycerol. Glycerin can be both derived from animals or plants, but sometimes its source isn’t clearly label. Dr. Brite products do in fact contain glycerin, but we only use plant-based glycerin because we believe that animals are friends, not beauty products.
